Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the proud Art Teacher at a K-8 public school in Miami. My students come from all over the county because we are a school of choice. There is great diversity in terms of economics, geography, language and culture.

I teach all grades which is a challenge.

My learners are from 5 years of age to teenagers. The one thing they have in common is their love of nature. I would love the opportunity to create an outdoor, learning environment on our beautiful campus.

My Project

My learners will spread out among the trees with their easels--ready to learn.

They will discuss, enquire, take notes, sketch, color and paint under the canopy of large trees.

They will collect specimens, observe flora, look at the midrib and veins of leaves. Draw radial, symmetrical and asymmetrical images.

They will collaborate and give worthy support. They will be tranquil and breathe freely. Success will be "best efforts". Guidance and support will be offered.

Learning will be presented through the arts. Across disciplines they will wander. Enthusiasm and full participation will be expected. October through March--our ceiling will be the sky!
