My Project

Our computer science class is composed of middle school students, predominantly African American, hailing from economically disadvantaged communities in Mississippi. Despite their enthusiasm and potential, many of these students face barriers in accessing high-quality computer science education due to limited resources and opportunities.

My students love to play games and a CodeMonkey subscription to all middle school students enrolled in my computer science class will give them the chance to learn programming skills while having fun playing games.

CodeMonkey is an interactive platform that offers a gamified approach to learning programming and coding skills, making it engaging and accessible to students of various ages and backgrounds. By integrating CodeMonkey into our curriculum, we aim to achieve the following objectives:

CodeMonkey provides a comprehensive and interactive curriculum that aligns with our existing computer science curriculum. It will help our students develop a strong foundation in coding, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Access to quality educational resources should not be limited by economic circumstances. By providing CodeMonkey subscriptions to all our students, we bridge the gap and ensure that every student, regardless of their background, has an equal opportunity to excel in computer science.

The gamified nature of CodeMonkey appeals to students, making learning fun and engaging. This approach fosters intrinsic motivation, helping students stay committed to their learning journey.

CodeMonkey offers real-world coding challenges and projects that enable students to apply their knowledge practically. This not only strengthens their coding skills but also prepares them for future careers in technology.

CodeMonkey's platform allows teachers to track students' progress, identify areas where they may need additional support, and tailor instruction accordingly, ensuring personalized learning experiences.
