Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a First Grade Spanish Bilingual Teacher who has recently switched to a new school. My new school is in the mission district of San Francisco. The majority of students are low income Hispanics. Most of my students speak limited English. Many of the parents have low levels of education and thus students have limited literacy opportunities outside of school. I have found that my new classroom needs a few things. I like to organize my classroom into learning centers that the students can choose to go to after they finish their seat work. The learning centers provide students with the opportunities to reinforce what they are learning in fun ways. While the students are working at their chosen centers, I am working with small groups of students to provide extra support to students at all levels in reading, writing, math, English, etc. In order for my twenty students to participate in the learning centers I will need a listening center (tape recorder, 4 head phones, books on tape). The learning center activities would greatly improve student motivation, learning, and make management of the classroom much simpler. Thank you in advance for your donations.
