Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in an ICT classroom, which means that about 40% of my students are exceptional learners. My students are very resilient. They face challenges everyday, not just the typical challenges that elementary students face. Some live in homeless shelters, temporary housing, have parents who are incarcerated, and many are performing below grade-level. I appreciate and validate my wonderful kindergarteners!

My students are positive and enthusiastic learners who are excited to come in to school and learn each and everyday.

My Project

Technology allows students to apply their content knowledge in various ways! These computers will allow me to cater to the varied learning styles of my students. Furthermore, technology allows exceptional learners to be more independent and provides them with assistive technology in a fun way.

Students who have difficulty with writing can express themselves through speech to text and voice recognition software.

As a class students will benefit from the center by learning the importance of sharing, treating equipment with care, and further developing their technological skills. We will also use the computers for additional practice on I-Ready. The learning center will consist of five chrome books, students will take turns using the equipment. The project also includes five protection plans with a 3 year time period, that will cover any unforeseen damages. Lastly, integrating computers into the classroom fosters collaboration and enhances positive interactions among members of the class community.
