Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This class is a kindergarten inclusion class. My students consist of both students with special needs (IEP Students) as well as general education students. Many students need assistance in reading, writing, and math. Some students need speech therapy, AIS services, behavioral services or physical therapy. I will not know all the specifics until the start of the school year, as it is their first time in school. Our students come from low-income households but that should not stop them from receiving material that will support their curiosity and learning.

My Project

My goal is to foster self-learning and discovery through play. First of all, I want my students to have a choice of projects or activities they will like to do. While they are working with hands-on activities they can have conversations with their peers or teacher about what they are doing and how they are trying to do it. It helps engage students in meaningful conversations with the use of vocabulary words.

Students learn best when they discover for themselves what works and what does not work, and how it can be made better.

This will help students in reading, math, science, and writing. Students learn best by discovery not by listening to a teacher talk all day.
