Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is in a high need district with significant poverty. My students are in Kindergarten and 1st grade, who qualify for Special Education support. My students are part of the inclusive setting but require special services such as accommodations, modifications, and small group instruction to achieve in school. In addition, my services not only benefit my students with special abilities but also all the students in the classes I service.

My Project

Research shows that children learn best using hands-on learning. Help me make learning more meaningful for my students. This project expands on my previous and first project. After exploring the Osmo Little Genius Kit, I realized that I need additional resources to make this learning more accessible to all my students. However, I found that Osmo gives students the opportunity to learn essential skills through play.

"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning.

But for children, play is serious learning."

These additional Osmo games and Apple Pencil will help me better serve my diverse community of learners. My students will be excited to explore phonics and improve their reading with OSMO Words. They will be able to practice phonemic awareness and spelling using the letter tiles, and expand their vocabulary, which will aid in advancing their reading skills. My students can also use OSMO Numbers to practice fact fluency and develop a better understanding of addition and subtraction. I hope I can give my students this opportunity to further their learning in a fun and engaging way!
