Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many children who struggle with speech and language difficulties also have trouble with the acquisition of literacy skills. Articulation deficits, for example, may impact a child’s phonemic awareness (the ability to recognize and analyze the sounds in words), which is a vital component of learning to read. The early support of a speech language therapist can impact a child’s development of basic literacy skills in areas such as phonemic awareness, reading fluency, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension. Delayed language development may also contribute to a limited vocabulary which can cause difficulty with reading comprehension. In school, these students often have difficulty with reading and demonstrating their understanding of material to teachers, both verbally and in writing. My struggling students are showing great difficulty understanding and learning throughout this pandemic situation.

Learning at home should be fun.

Students as well as teachers and parents are being force to learn and teach from home and at home. Teaching and learning at home is for sure a hard thing But it can also be fun!

My Project

Learning at home should be fun.

Students as well as teachers and parents are being forced to learn and teach from home and at home. Teaching and learning at home is for sure a hard thing but it can also be fun!. I serve a unique and multicultural population. My students present with a range of disabilities. Some of my students are able to sit and listen during a session. However, the majority of my students need interactive materials that help them engage easily and maintain their interest in the lesson. Most of my interactive and computer based materials (reading & language games, CDs-stories, educational games, …) are in the school.

We are in need of fun, interactive materials to work on phonemic awareness, reading, comprehension, language and articulation. My students and I will forever appreciate your help and support!
