My Students

My title is "traveling music teacher" working for a large school district of Los Angeles county, serving every day at a different school location as an itinerant vocal/general/choral music teacher, in a low income, south and southeast LA area.

Although my students come mostly from bilingual households and financially troubled families, they all have "sharpy" eyes, ears and brain...! They all are like any other children in the world, eager to learn, ready and anxious to achieve, succeed and have their own place in their lives.

I am one of many other inspirational teachers who are trying hard to give these students a chance to get the best there is out there to help expedite their learning, and give them many skills as possible to become productive members of the future generation.

My Project

When I am demonstrating the written music, while singing, and playing the melody with one hand, my other hand is pointing the melodic phrase and the text, directing the whole class visually to follow and read together as a group... So, Elmo reader will help the literacy through the use of modal varieties to expedite the transfer of knowledge and enhance learning... Seeing, hearing, and reading that's what students will simultaneously be able to do, and we will all be on the same page altogether! Using different modalities to expedite learning and help students to be better readers. I will happily carry them from school to school, to make them available for all of my music students every day.
