Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like when you finally discovered a love of reading? Do you remember the first book that you couldn't put down? My students have started to find this love of books, but we need more classic titles for our classroom.

My students attend a public school in a high needs area.

They come from homes suffering from financial difficulties, and many do not have the money to purchase books on their own. I am constantly trying to bring in more materials to enhance their classroom world.

My Project

I have requested a class set of To Kill a Mockingbird. With these novels, the class can have lessons on theme, main idea, and character development. Having a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird for each student will allow them to take the book home for further reading. My students are eager and ready to learn! By providing them with these classroom novels, our classroom will come to life! This will lead to quality group and class discussions.

Each one of my students has something special that they bring to our class.

They appreciate all of the little things they are given and are always willing to help one another. I would love to see them get everything they deserve in this life. A love of learning and literature would be a big step in helping them to reach their full potential!
