Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

I work with 22 students who are limited English proficient, come from a low-income area, and have limited experience backgrounds. As a class, we are working on learning how to read and write in order to be ready to go on to 1st grade despite our language barriers. We focus on learning through creativity and socializing with our fellow classmates. Every single one of my students is amazing and unique and always eager to learn, no matter what obstacles they face!
My Project
These building materials will help my students by giving them the opportunity to work through STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) to get hands-on learning by using real applications through experimental play either by themselves or by collaborating with each other where they can bounce ideas off of each other and naturally let creativity flourish. Working through STEM will not only allow them to express their creativity but will also help learn social skills during class which is a major milestone students need to meet at their grade level. It is imperative that creativity lessons be fun and encouraging to students so that they can ignite their scientific interests and create a curiosity for learning.
