My Students

My kindergarten students live on Manhattan's Upper West Side and attend a school building that is over 100 years old. They come to school full of curiosity and eager to learn.

Many of my students do not see themselves as readers and writers when they first walk through the door of our classroom, but each one of them gradually becomes the author and illustrator of many books and soon finds the number of words he or she can read growing by the day.

My Project

We use our whole room to learn and we learn all around the room! In order to make the most of our learning and find a comfy spot, our boys and girls need clipboards and cushions.

Cushions will give us the option to sit anywhere we choose and clipboards will make our work portable.

With these 2 items we will be able to work comfortably all over the classroom with partners or by ourselves. This way we can work closer to the smartboard, easel or word wall. We can all find a place that best suits our learning style.
