This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are ambitious learners who love visual models. Many of them find algebra intimidating but excel when they have the chance to explore new ideas with concrete tools. I hope to give them a pathway to understanding how to solve for variables, even with the learning gaps students have experienced over the past few years.

Algebra tiles are a research-proven strategy to help students bridge from a concrete to abstract understanding.

I know this tool will help diminish students' math anxiety and help them make strong connections in their math learning.
