My Project

My middle school students are amazing young people who are going through a lot of changes at this time in their lives while attempting to figure out their own emotions.

I am including activities and materials about compassion that can help my students to cultivate and demonstrate compassion in order to create an emotionally safe environment throughout this challenging time in their lives.

These items are card making kits, posters, compassion activities kit and color printer with ink refills.

Having posters in the classroom about compassion and discussing empathy through activities will help students gain a deeper understanding of different perspectives and experiences. By exploring real-life examples and scenarios, students can learn to empathize with others and appreciate the diversity within their community.

A color printer will allow students to digitally create their own cards and a card making kit will encourage students to consider the feelings and experiences of their peers. By creating personalized cards for those going through a rough time, students learn to step into the shoes of others and understand how their actions can positively impact someone else's day. By showing compassion towards those facing challenges beyond their control, students learn the importance of empathy and understanding.

In conclusion, these items collectively teach students to see the world through the eyes of others. I'll gauge students' comprehension and application of compassion prior to starting this project and then observe their learning through their demonstrated acts of kindness and supportive behavior towards their peers.
