My Students

Empowering students through art prepares students for the creative, collaborative life of a 21st century citizen.

"Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun." -Mary Lou Cook.

Sounds like a recipe for future academic success to me.

My students enter the kindergarten classroom eager, anxious, and willing to learn. It is very important that each of them is met at his or her developmental level and is taught in a way that keeps them excited and engaged in learning.

These students are ready to become 21st Century learners by learning cooperation and content through the tools of tomorrow!

My Project

In the kindergarten next generation science standards, students are required to "plan and conduct an investigation to compare the effects of different strengths or different directions of pushes and pulls on the motion of an object." And to "analyze data to determine if a design solution works as intended to change the speed or direction of an object with a push or a pull."

Through an exploration of ramps and how they work, students can explore the scientific concepts of "push" and "pull" through play.

As they make ramps to change the type of "push" or "pull" needed to move the ball, they will explore concepts of engineering.
