Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a brand new Pre-K center that provides developmentally appropriate practices and a safe environment that is conducive for learning. Our mission is to provide opportunities for our students to learn and grow through authentic experiences that will build a solid foundation for their academic success. The program we provide our students incorporates interactive activities, student-inquiry based lessons, and appropriate social/emotional experiences that target the holistic development of a preschooler.

Our school is located in a low-income area that strives to provide support to our students, as well as their families.

We are continuing to build relationships and incorporate the cultures of our students and their families into our everyday instruction.

My Project

I am requesting science resources including goggles, a Seasons and Weather Theme Box, a Life Cycles Theme Box, a Five Senses Theme Box, and a Earth and Environment Theme Box.

The materials requested would make a remarkable impact on my students' learning by letting them explore through hands on activities.

Many of my students are English Language Learners and learn best by using visuals and manipulatives. In PreK, we learn through themes. The theme boxes will be of great use for our Reduce, Reuse, Recycle theme, five senses theme, and life cycles theme. Additional books and visuals have been requested to support all my students in each theme. The goggles will give my students the motivation to pretend to be scientists and experiment on some materials such as the natural tree rings. My students do not have many materials or toys at home to support in their learning, therefore, the materials requested would be of great use in our classroom.
