Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Thank you for considering our project and helping us make a difference in our students' lives. I have some very unique high school students in my Essential Academics classroom that need extra reinforcement in their learning. My goal is to reinforce their STEM learning about properties of matter through engaging cooking activities that also aim to enhance their functional life skills while following our adapted curriculum.

Our cooking recipes will focus on reinforcing math and science skill development to extend the understanding of the properties of matter, patterns, measurement, and chemical reactions with the added bonus of positive reinforcement through snacks and food items that students can prepare and enjoy together.

Cooking easy recipes in the kitchen will give my students opportunity to practice essential skills such as measuring, following procedures, and food safety in a hands-on environment. However, to make these lessons effective and enjoyable, we need your support and request funding for food items and cooking supplies that align with our adapted curriculum.

With your help, we can create a fun and educational environment where my students can thrive, collaborate and build life skills that will serve them beyond the classroom fostered through independent work, teamwork, and pride in their accomplishments.
