Help me give my students books that reflect their experiences or that can give them a window into others experiences.

My Project
I'm currently taking a class on Latinx Young Adult (YA) literature. I have learned how important it is for my students to have windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors. Windows being literature that allows them to look into other cultures. Mirrors being literature that allows my students to reflect on their own experiences. Lastly, sliding glass doors that make them want to advocate for change.
My schools largest minority population is Latinx at 32.86% of students.
I want to give these students representation through literature and allow my other students a window into their culture. On average, Latinx culture is only represented in 5% of books (https://readingspark.wordpress.com/2019/06/19/picture-this-diversity-in-childrens-books-2018-infographic/). It's vital for these students to see themselves represented so that they don't feel alienated in their cultural experiences. I've seen first hand how excited my Latinx students get when I make connections to their culture and allow them to embrace the Spanish language in our creative writing. On the other hand, it's just as important for students of other cultures to see the Latinx culture represented so that they can learn about the culture as they read.
These books will allow my students to grow as readers and people.
