This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am an 8th grade math teacher in a Title I middle school in Elmhurst, Queens in New York City. I teach many children who just came to our country - our New Comer Students. Imagine coming to America and entering a New York City Middle School classroom where you have to learn a new language and math all at the same time. In the same class there are also students who have gone through hardships and are living in homeless shelters. My students are amazingly resilient. I want to give them the supplies and experiences they need to be successful.
Help my students learn math anxiety free.
Today many of our children suffer from anxiety. Math is a subject that does make students anxious. We want to help our students feel less anxious by giving them the supplies they need to succeed and give them anxiety calming strips that will help them manage their feelings of anxiety.
Thank you for your generous donation and thank you for helping these wonderful children. They are amazing and want to succeed, now you have helped them.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
