My Students

My students are reaching for the stars everyday. I strive to provide them with an educational experience that will impact them to their fiber in the most positive way possible. My students are special because they attend a school that is labeled economically disadvantaged. They are hardworking and resilient and it is my honor and privilege to work with them every day.

Modern classrooms require procedures and accommodations for almost every student.

It is an impossible arduous task to ask any student to stay seated or quiet for exorbitant amounts of time to just absorb information. Most students, if not all, need to move and experience different seating choices that will provide comfort and release of bottled energy.

I have had the pleasure of working with future LEADERS of America. I want to provide them a learning laboratory that makes them excited to come to school each day.

My Project

There are so many needs in modern day classrooms, as educators we do our level best to give our students EVERYTHING they need so that all they have to do is show up and absorb the information.

Help me provide my students another year of seamless, almost effortless learning by giving them a few items; mechanical pencils, clipboards and an Apple Pencil.

Students in my classroom this year will have flexible seating options, this means many of them (90%) will choose to sit someplace else other than a traditional desk. I am asking for clipboards so no matter where they are they will have the ability to work without looking for a suitable writing surface. The second item on my list is a box of mechanical pencils, students prefer these and honestly so do I, this prevents repeated trips to the sharpener and lessens classroom distractions. Lastly, I am asking for an Apple Pencil, teaching reading and writing to students is more than teaching the act of reading. Students need to know how to annotate and be shown how to take notes. Sure, I could type them up for them but if I were able to write it and project on the screen using airplay its much more impactful. Additionally, my students need to see me write, by doing this I can make purposeful writing errors, show them ( in my handwriting) how to plan and how to move seamlessly through the writing process. Using technology is essential and I want to be a great mentor and role model to my students. Please help me be that educator.
