Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Do you love math? I do and I want the same for my students! I teach a wonderful group of students at a Title I school. Over 70% of the students are Hispanic and are learning the English language.

My students are eager to learn and I want them to have the tools to help that happen!

Due to the language barrier and other socioeconomic factors, my students are not currently working on their grade level. They do not have the necessary prior knowledge or materials at home and have fallen behind their peers in mathematics. This is especially true since the pandemic. Many of them are not enthusiastic about learning math because it is difficult for them. It is hard for them to learn material on their grade level because they lack number sense and the basic skills. The lack of resources and structure during the Covid-19 pandemic also did not help the students.

The materials that have been selected for this project would enable me to provide my students with learning activities that are fun! The Two Truths and One Lie activity book will provide an engaging resource that I can use. This activity would be an excellent way to promote fluency while having a good time. The punch cards and classroom incentives would be the perfect way to encourage participation and cooperation. The Giant Magnetic Regrouping Chart will be a valuable tool to assist my students in understanding regrouping in Addition/Subtraction, which is one of the hardest concepts to learn. This chart will enable me to use another visual aid to help.

These materials will assist me to teach my students the skills that they need in an engaging way! Please consider donating to this project!
