Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in a low-income community (Brownsville) which was one of the neighborhoods that were hit the hardest with the Corona virus. Half of my students live in shelters and the families do not have the means to buy materials to participate in the fully remote program. Many of them do not have access to devices or internet. Even though they face many adversities, my students are so eager to learn and so excited about their first school experience. They love learning through play by actively involving their senses. They arrive in the classroom full of curiosity and enthusiasm, ready to explore and learn. The goal of our program is to instill the love of learning by using hands-on materials.

My Project

These materials will be used by my students at home. Many of my children's families do not have the means to buy the materials because of the harsh conditions they live in. The families are willing to participate but they need the means to do so.

Learning should be fun and accessible to all children.

Please, help my students partake in different activities and projects that foster their cognitive skills and their motor skills at home. Children will use the wooden and soft blocks to build structures. This will foster their engineering skills, spatial reasoning and improve their motor skills. The bean bags, jumbo tweezers and rubber ducks will be used in activities to improve their motor skills. The corn starch, snow powder and pipettes will be use in hands-on science experiments to foster their cognitive skills, curiosity and their understanding of the world.
