Learn Through Play

Help me give my students educational resources they needed to learn through play.

My Students

Students in my class are full of curiosity and willingness to explore what around them. The goal of our 3K program is to inculcate learning through hands-on experiences. My students love learning through play because they can learn to make sense of the world around them. Through play, children can develop social and cognitive skills, gain the confidence required to engage in new life experiences and environments. I remember when they come to our class their eyes light up and their faces show much curiosity. It brings joy to my heart to watch them grow into the inquisitive learner. My school is located in a low-income community Brownsville, East New York. The community I served did not have access to simple learning materials because the majority of them live in shelters. Most students were provided devices during the COVID-19 remote learning however keeping up with the activities provided seems difficult because they do not have resources to partake in the activities.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my student's learning. I want to provide my student's age-appropriate resources to partake in daily activities at home. Many of my students do not have access to materials such as playdough, counters and it makes it difficult for them to engage in a given lesson.

With these materials, I want to create Learning Through Play Home Baggie for my students for them to participate in Blended Learning.

I have listed age appropriate materials needed to develop my students fine motor skills such as playdough, lacing beads, pegboards. I also included on my lists toys that will foster critical thinking and imagination such as Thinkers Toys and Stem Toy Builder. With these materials I believed that my students will greatly benefit from learning through play.
