My Students

We are a New York City public school and our borough of Queens is known to be multicultural, representing one of the most international areas in the country.

We speak many languages and the school community is a tapestry rich in its diversity.

Our parents see education as the key to their children's future and they look to us to offer the best opportunities in learning. The expectations and standards we set for ourselves are high, but funding the resources that help us to achieve our goals is becoming increasingly difficult. As we prioritize the allocation of funds for the most important school needs, often our littlest members find themselves at the lower end of the list. While we understand why this happens, the needs of our little ones still need to be addressed.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of resources so the students can learn through center time how to share and work together as a team. Socialization and interacting with peers is an important skill for Kindergarten students to learn and the resources will help the students grow. My students are in need of lacing cards, magna tiles, building blocks, and more! These items will provide my students with new centers to help promote socialization and team work as they "play" together. They will learn how to share and be responsible for items they use.

Centers help students to learn to share and work together as a team.

This is the first year of school for so many children and it is so important for it to be a time of creativity and joy. We hope you agree.
