My Students

What happens when the kindergarten play structure is closed due to an underground pipe problem? Now...everyday we have over 120 children finding things to do during their playtime. We hope to provide our students with the activities and exercise that they need.

We have over 120 prekindergarten, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students using the kindergarten yard everyday.

About 80 percent of our students are on free and reduced lunch. Our students are highly motivated to learn but at the same time they love to play. Unfortunately, our play structure is closed for at least three months and we have very limited play equipment. I would love to have our students be active in a healthy way that allows them to interact and learn how to play with others.

My Project

We have about 50 kindergarten students playing on the playground at one time. I know the children would love the basketball goals and balls. Everyday I see them pretending to play basketball and they shoot the ball in an imaginary hoop. What joy and excitement they would experience to actually shoot a ball into a real hoop that is perfect for their size. It will be good for their motor skills and especially hand-eye coordination. It also has the social benefits. They will learn to share, take turns, encourage one another and be a great team player. As they get better, self-confidence will come. In life, these are all important skills for everyone.

I would love to see a basketball goal in the kindergarten yard.

Due to budget cuts, our school has no money for outdoor equipment. By donating to this project, you will help over 120 students physically, emotionally and mentally. Our students definitely "Learn Hard" but they also like to "Play Hard". Please give our students and future students the chance to experience teamwork and success outside of the classroom!
