Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 1st grade teacher with 21 years of experience working in a school located in an area of need. My school is a Title 1 school where 100% of students qualify for free lunches. I teach a dual language immersion class in English and Spanish. My students are inquisitive, enthusiastic, creative, and eager to become fully bilingual.

My students deserve to have the very best education!

Unfortunately, my school lacks the funds necessary to supply my class with the all the tools required to teach a bilingual program. I am dedicated to the success of my students and hope to get support in my quest for their education.

My Project

My project will provide my students with the opportunity to listen to different stories. During reading time my class is divided into groups so that I can differentiate instruction while they work independently. The listening center materials I'm requesting will be placed on a table that will be accessible to students.

A listening center will help my students understand how to read a book with intonation, fluency, and expression.

Listening to a story will also help my students that are struggling with reading. Hearing stories read to them will motivate them to learn to read and foster a love for books.
