My Project

My students learn by exploring object through their sense of touch. My lessons involve a lot of prompts whether it is physical, gestural, modeling, verbal, or visual. Feeling objects in their hands and looking at it is what engages them throughout the class. The laminating pouches are marker-proof, tear-proof, and spill-proof; so if my students draw on it, put it in their mouths, or spills something on the laminated sheet I would still be able to use it.

The play doh helps my students to create things using their imagination when introduced to a topic.

For example, my students are learning about identifying three shapes; and feeling the texture and sides of the shape they make with the play doh can develop an understanding for them to learn more. This includes being interested in looking at other shapes and questioning how one shape is different from another such as a square and a rhombus. Students can go more in depth thinking about the shapes that they see around them everyday, like connecting a circle to a clock.

Every now and then, my students need time to be in the calming center when they feel down. The feelings chart have illustrations which can help my students to identify their own feelings and learn to deal with their feelings. The sensory toys will comfort my students who need a break, if they are feeling anxious, or need to keep their hands busy during the lesson.
