My Project

In the past 3 years students have been through many different learning situations, from virtual to fully in the classroom. My students spent their first year of school in a virtual or hybrid education setting. Their kindergarten year did not all for much in person socialization. Having these resources to help them to understand what they are feeling and process their emotions will be extremely beneficial to our classroom environment. Games help students to see how to identify emotions and talk about the best and sometimes worst ways to let those emotions out. Helping students to grow their emotional vocabulary and processing toolboxes will set them up for future success. Having additional resources for neurodivergent students allows them to have greater success in the classroom where it meets their needs. Having alternative seating options allows for students to feel comfortable and in control of their learning. Sitting still for long periods of time is not always a strong skill young students have, the ability to move something in hand or bounce feet without distracting others allows for all students to learn in the best environment for themselves.

Mindfulness is something that I learned later in life and hope to share and learn more about with my students.

Body movement throughout the day as brain breaks and resets for our bodies. Having supports for students to access mindfulness at different times throughout the day gives them control of themselves and what they need in the moment. I am looking forward to having the resources and knowledge to help grow my students minds academically and emotionally throughout the upcoming school year.
