My Students

This year I will be teaching both 4th and 5th grade students. I will be providing instruction to students in a 12:1:1 setting. A 12:1:1 settings allow for students who have diverse needs to receive the support they need to access the general education curriculum. In this setting, they receive instruction and support from both the teacher and the classroom paras. Our students are very diverse in their needs and their academic/social abilities. This diversity is what makes the classroom one that is beautiful and each child brings with them a special gift that only enhances our classroom community.

Many of our students are gifted in artistic expression, they are able to see and understand the world through a unique perspective and thus share with us, the world through many different lenses.

It is an honor and privilege to be able to share my days with learners who teach me more about life than I could have ever dreamed of.

My Project

The last 16 months have proven to be the hardest that our students have ever faced. Unfortunately, there is learning loss and many of our students throughout the city have lost that invaluable experience with actual books. Safety measures put in place to ensure that students are in person as much as possible have led to smaller classrooms and the need for more classroom libraries with books that target learning loss and address social and emotional needs. The materials will provide my students with a rich and diverse reading experience this year to reignite their love of reading and inspire them to continue to be lifelong readers.
