My Project

Our Elementary School, nestled in the heart of Portland is committed to providing an enriching, high-quality education to our diverse student body. As a Title I school, we are dedicated to ensuring that all our students, regardless of their economic background, have access to the best learning tools and environments. This commitment extends beyond traditional classroom settings and into our PE programs, where we aim to instill a love for physical activity and a foundation for healthy living that our students can carry with them for a lifetime.

Our goal is to create a dynamic, inclusive, and engaging obstacle course that challenges and develops our students' physical capabilities while fostering critical skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and perseverance.

Implementing an obstacle course in our PE curriculum will not only enrich our physical education offerings but also contribute to our students' overall development. Research indicates that engaging in diverse physical activities, such as those provided by an obstacle course, improves students' academic performance, enhances focus, and reduces anxiety.

What makes our elementary students special is their resilience, diversity, and eagerness to learn. Our students come from various backgrounds, with 39% belonging to minority groups and 40% coming from economically disadvantaged families. These children bring unique perspectives and strengths to our school community, enriching it with their cultures, languages, and experiences.

With your support, we can offer our elementary students a unique opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive through physical education. This obstacle course project represents more than just an investment in physical resources; it is a commitment to our students' health, academic success, and personal growth. We believe that the skills and lessons learned through this engaging physical activity will serve our students well beyond the school grounds, contributing to their lifelong health and happiness.

Thanks for considering our grant request.
