This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students, each year, fill me with awe. They are not perfect, and neither am I, but they are eager to learn and look forward to how I am going to do that. Taking out a box of dominoes and telling them we will be using them to work on our multiplication facts gets them so excited. Not what they were expecting, but definitely something to get excited about. The building blocks (LEGO bricks) gets all children excited no matter their age. My fourth graders are 9-10 years of age and when you tell them they get to play together for an hour or so and that they will work collaboratively, and then show them the blocks they get to work with, they scream and cheer! Sometimes I will give them a specific item to build together, other times they will be allowed to just create what they want. When times up they get to share their creations with the class.
