What I love about my students is that they are okay with receiving redirection. More often than not, I am able to talk to them personally and build rapport. The students especially at my current site are honest, funny, and when engaged, can be a joy to teach AND learn from. What makes my students special this year is many of them are bouncing back from the pandemic, and because I teach one class this year, I am able to put a lot more effort toward each individual student. One student that really sticks out to me what a student who would argue with me, talk over me, and even walked away from me while I was subbing his class. His behavior has improved so much and I tell him that when I see him, how proud I am of him. My students are constant reminders of why I am still here, and to never take anything personally from my middle schoolers. Plus, they are just all-around fun children to teach, once you learn them beyond what grades they make.
These materials will make a difference by allowing me to complete my certification for National Board, while also engaging my students in the best lessons possible.
TpT allows me to be more creative with my presentation, find different ways to reward my students, find modern worksheets, locate ready-made plans for their favorite books (great for subs) and plan out schoolwide scavenger hunts.
This material will be used beyond this school year as well.
In the past, I have used TpT funds for unit plans, digital stickers, and iReady trackers. My favorite product was the iReady trackers because it helped my students take control of their learning by tracking their scores on iReady. We also won prizes and made announcements based on students' growth which is a major in the middle school setting.
