My Students

Our elementary school is an urban Title 1 school where the vast majority of students receive Free or Reduced Lunch.

What we lack in resources, we make up for in fun!

Each year, my approximately 25 energetic and fun first grade students' favorite memories include daily read alouds, literacy and math stations, STEM projects and experiments, singing, dancing, and a variety of different art and writing projects. How cool that their favorite memories include so much learning! One of the best things about first graders is that they LOVE to LEARN!!!

My Project

Research shows powerful links between physical activity and academic performance and improved behavior in the classroom, not to mention all of the health benefits. The furniture and flexible seating options in this project provide opportunities for students to burn more calories, use excess energy, increase motivation and engagement, and empower students through choice and leadership opportunities all while maximizing academic learning, floor space, organization, and movement in the classroom.

As teachers, we know that students need to move and that daily recess and once a week PE classes are not enough.

Please help me provide a warm and inviting space for my students where every child can choose the seating arrangement and space that allows them to do their best work each and every day.
