This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love using technology in my classroom. A typical day limits me to a small whiteboard and very limited technology. I want my students to feel comfortable with science and with using technology to research and learn.

My students come from a myriad of socioeconomic backgrounds.

Many do not have Internet or even a computer. They like music and of course very little science. They enjoy going to the movies and being part of a family environment. Many students have a single parent and some cases are lacking a solid home structure. Nonetheless, as educators we push forward and try our best to educate them and get them excited about learning. My school is a TItle 1 school. We are located in a low/middle income area and our teachers/staff struggle to motivate the student population everyday. I hope to use the LCD projector and Screen to entice them into a love for science again. Activities, videos and power points created by the students and presented by the students will hopefully engage them. I strive to motivate my students to grow as learners.

My Project

I will have students creating lessons and power points in class and presenting them. I will also be able to provide videos and clips with the use of the LCD projector and screen. They are very useful tools. I will be able to have students interact in animations and virtual labs that will be projected on screen thanks to these supplies. They will learn how to use this technology by interacting with it themselves, They will learn core biology benchmarks. They will share their student-created work with their peers. The possibilities are endless.

Technology is so important in this day and age.

The ability to present student created work, videos, presentations and virtual labs to the students will help them retain the biology they are being taught daily. My students' lives will be improved by the simple fact that they will be receiving science infused by the use of technology.This will give them the competitive edge in learning that they so desperately need.
