Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My scholars are joyful and resilient fourth graders who overcame the gaps of knowledge of technology and typing during a historical time in a high-needs area.. We have all not seen each other since March, I can honestly say this is the longest amount of time I have gone without seeing my students. Although we met live and communicated daily it was a tearful goodbye in June. However, the new year brings us the hope of change and safety.

I am truly excited about my rising fourth grade class because I had taught them years ago; now together we will work as a team to make blended learning a fourth grade success!

Big smiles and waves await us in September. In my class we are always a family and a team. We work together to build each other up and thrive in our community and the world!

My Project

These books will have an impact on my students' learning by giving them their own books for our book clubs. During remote learning last year I discovered that kids, similar to adults, have trouble reading books with a screen. Now they will each have their own. The chapter books in this project are based on my students' reading levels. The books are engaging and culturally relevant to the scholars'. The pouches will be used for the students to keep their materials and books. The students, whether remote or blended will be reading the same books and be able to connect during their book clubs. The internet and these chapter books will be what unifieds the students even at a distance. Together they can converse over the books, bringing together social emotional learning and literacy! Over video chat the students can share with one another and collaborate with the students at home- who miss their friends dearly!
