My Students

My classroom is a hands-on, learner-centered environment. I strive to give my students a fun and engaging learning environment so that they can take learning into their own hands. I want my students to enjoy the learning process. My students are in a moderate poverty area.

Our school is an intermediate campus that serves students in 3rd-5th grades.

We live in a high military area, so some of my students parents may be deployed. When a parent deploys, it can take a toll on the students. Simple things, like having someone to play games with, might be a difficult task.

My Project

Our grade level would like to implement a traditional guided reading program, however, we do not have the materials to currently implement it. This project will allow several classrooms the ability to have access to guided reading books that will reach the academic needs of every student. This project will not only impact my classroom, but the entire grade level as we will share the resources. We would like to create a book room so that our teachers have the necessary materials to conduct a traditional guided reading lesson. This program will allow us to pinpoint the students' instructional reading level and instruct them accordingly.
