Laughter Builds the Best Bonds

Help me give my students the board game Telestrations to use as a teambuilding activity while mentoring younger students.

My Project

I sponsor a group at our middle school called PAC, which stands for Principal's Advisory Committee. This group consists of 20 of the most responsible, hardest working 8th graders in our middle school.

The PAC Leaders do many things around the school, such as 6th grade orientation, creating and running advisory challenges, working on different committees to improve the school, and mentoring 6th graders.

Each 6th grade advisory (homeroom) has 2-3 PAC Leaders assigned to it. The PAC Leaders come in once a week to do lessons, community building activities, tutor, and bond with their 6th graders. The 6th graders look up to the PAC Leaders, and enjoy the time they spend with them.

One class period, I only had a few PAC students in my class because most of them were in a meeting. The students left behind decided to try playing Telestrations while they waited for the others to come back. They were laughing so hard that they were crying while they played the game. The game involves drawing a picture of a given word, passing the book to another person who tries to guess what was drawn, then passing it to someone else who draws the word that was guessed by the second person. It keeps going in that order until the book gets back to the original person. Once the rest of the class came back, we played the game again, but only had enough books for 8 people to play, so they worked in groups of 2-3. There was so much laughter and teambuilding going on, that I thought Telestrations would be a great addition to our 6th grade advisory activities. I'm requesting 3 boxes of Telestrations, so the game can be played with the PAC Leaders and 6th graders as a community building activity.
