My Project
We having been crushing it both in the classroom and on DonorsChoose. We just obtained a Glowforge laser engraver and are looking to add materials to use. Students already create and finish prototypes using FDM and resin printers. They have been developing their 3D design skills. Now we are looking to add the ability to engrave student designs using our laser engraver. This will give the students the ability to engrave their designs in class and in design club.
Students discover the design process and develop an understanding of the influence of creativity and innovation in their lives.
They are then challenged and empowered to use and apply what they’ve learned throughout the course and design club to solve a series of problems.
These projects are all related to real life examples that the students will experience. Some examples of these are designing light switch plates, puzzles, game pieces, consumer products, locker accessories, holiday ornaments, Echo Dot holders and gears for robotics to name a few.
The ultimate goal of the course is to have them learn the engineering design process and apply it to their lives.
