My Project

Covid-19 has drastically changed the lives of each student through the limited face to face interactions with peers, teachers, and the general public. Through the Career Exploration program, we set out to help teach job skills to our special education population. As these students went a couple years on distance learning, their ability to interact with others suffered greatly. To encourage positive and professional interactions, our students run a club called ICan. Through this club, they make school spirit and holiday items. They research the cost of the materials, purchase items needed, craft items, market items, and then sell the items. With the addition of this laser engraver and supplies, it will help give the students an even more professional product to market. It also will give them an opportunity to use new technology with the design program. It is hoped as the students work to maintain the craft business they will get in person experience while building their professional skills.
