My Project
Our middle school is an urban school located in Madison, Wisconsin. Our school has a diverse student population. 50% of our students are English Language Learners and over 50% are economically challenged. Over 25% of our student population have Individual Education Plans.
With this device I will be able to create STEM and CTE activities for all of our students.
The Emblaser laser cutter will encourage students to be creative and turn their imagination into reality. This device allows students to use different materials to work with. Our students will focus on using reusable items, exposing them to the importance of recycling and helping the environment. Some of the project ideas that I have are: 3D puzzles, building models, science fair and other school projects, items to share with family (rolling pin, paper towel holder, personalized trivets).
This experience will expose them to new career opportunities, such as Laser System Engineer, Laser cutters, Engraving and Operator, and Creative Designer to name a few.
My students include the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth graders. I have students of all background and abilities. This project that I am seeking funding for will inspire and encourage students to try new things. The Emblaser Laser Cutter will give all students the opportunity to design and create personalized items. Exposing students to new experiences that may change their future lives.
