Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My third graders are inquisitive, full of energy and they have an eagerness to learn that is unmatched! It is a pleasure to walk into my classroom everyday because I know my students will give their all to achieve their goals. Their excitement for learning keeps me going each and everyday.

I have the great pleasure of having a very diverse population of students in my classroom, each very unique in learning style and academic capabilities.

New York City is home to a diverse culture and a wide range of socioeconomic statuses which are seen throughout the city and in each one of the classrooms. We have a high percentage of students who receive free or reduced-price lunch.

My Project

We have 4 laptops in the classroom that were loaned to us by the school in an effort to bring our students into the 21st century. Unfortunately 4 laptops in a room with 28 children are just not enough. I have created a rotating schedule where each student gets to use the laptop once a week. Having 4 more laptops would allow me to have more students using the laptops at a time and way more than just once a week. These laptops will help me differentiate instruction within my classroom. I will be able to meet the needs of each student with online activities and games that we can assess through these computers. Students will be able to use these computers during morning time, math and reading centers and at the end of the day.

By donating to this project you can be certain that you will be impacting the lives of these children not only this year but for the rest of their future.

A classroom with limited access to technology in this day an age is not a 21st century classroom. Children need to be able to handle this technology and be exposed to it at a young age. By equipping my classroom with these laptops you will be helping them grow and achieve higher goals than they would without them. Having these laptops will help my students’ learning and engagement to be boosted by hundred percent!
