My Project

I am fortunate to teach a wonderfully diverse group of students who are eager and passionate about learning. However, many come from low-income families without reliable access to devices and the internet which are essential for acquiring the 21st-century skills needed to compete for future jobs. Moreover, they have not had sufficient exposure to the STEM disciplines, which offer promising and impactful career opportunities. Some of my students are new to the country and are learning to speak English, while they are learning science in my classroom.

By requesting 5 laptops, I am hoping to give my students the ability to learn science in an engaging way, while improving their 21st century skills.

In a world where most career paths require competence in utilizing technology for many different purposes, having a few extra laptops in my classroom for the students who don't have reliable internet and devices at home will help them start along that path.

For my new English learners, many of them are unable to clearly communicate their thoughts and ideas in science class. Some of my students are unable to effectively understand what I am saying since their understanding of the English language is still developing. Having 5 extra laptops in my room will allow my students to use various language translation programs to both communicate their thoughts clearly and understand the content being delivered to them.
