My Students

My class consists of 27 fifth grade students who are with me for all subjects: reading, math, science, social studies, and health.

My students are a wonderful group of 10-11 year old students, who are excited about learning real life knowledge that they can see applied to the world around them.

They are in a Title I school and don't always have access to the Internet outside of school. There are so many wonderful resources online that could support and enhance our instruction in the classroom and my students would benefit greatly from that additional access in my classroom.

My Project

My students will be using these laptops in a small group setting to navigate reading and math intervention/enrichment programs tailored to their specific needs. They will also be learning about how to evaluate websites for validity, conduct research, and identify bias throughout our school year.

The donation of these laptops will give my students regular, daily access to the Internet within the walls of our classroom.

There are many web-based activities that can meet each student at their individual level and strengthen the specific skills that they need. Unfortunately, many of them do not have access to reliable internet outside of school, so this will allow them to learn positive, constructive ways to use the internet for educational purposes in a safe space.
