My Students

My fifth-grade students are part of the Horizon ASD Program in New York City. My students have various learning styles and needs. They are polite, happy, and eager to learn. Our location allows us to be close to the richly diverse culture of the New York City while enjoying peaceful views of frolicking deer behind the school yard.

The children especially love learning with the use of technology and being able to use various forms of sensory activities.

It is our goal to keep them excited, engaged, and learning. Along with building their reading and writing skills, math, measuring, and many other exciting things, they will be learning to self-assess and reflect on their own work in order to understand their learning goals, progress, and how they can achieve their goals. We are building independent learners.

My Project

Technology is essential for learning during these ever changing times. We have proven that it is possible to continue teaching and learning even if we are not together. The use of technology in our daily instruction has enabled us stay connected and have continuity with out students.

These two laptops will fulfill the need for each student to have their own laptops in class right now.

This makes it easier for my students to log in and save their work.

Right now we are learning remotely. When they come in I plan to teach them by incorporating technology to prepare them in the event that we have to go remote again. Also, these skills will increase their executive function and help them for the future education.
