Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are driven to succeed. They come in before and after school as well as for four hours on a Saturday to try to close any educational gaps. To assist in closing these gaps, we try to integrate technology as much as possible, but we have limited access to working computers.

Our students attend a Title I school and qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Each and every one of our students have excellent work ethics and look forward to attending college. They love to learn and work collaboratively with each other. We are proud of our students and encourage them to dream and strive for success in a safe and supportive environment. Our students strive for a better life, better opportunities.

My Project

By having two HP Stream laptops, integration of technology would begin to take place daily. With a classroom set of laptops, my students would not be limited to how much time they have to work on their individualized lessons through iReady, researching Common Core projects, creating Google Slides, and using Google Docs. However, this is difficult with a class of 30 students and only two working computers, for the most part. Having two additional HP Stream laptops would give us the opportunity and flexibility to do more individualized lessons and increase the ability to use such programs as Goemeter's Sketchpad, and Smartboard software programs. Technology allows for active engagement in student learning.

Technology is an important asset in today's society as it makes it easier to use, create, manage, and exchange information in a fast paced environment.

Students will use technology to build upon their understanding of Mathematical concepts and build skills needed in their future careers. HP Stream laptops will help students develop 21st Century skills.
