My Students

My students thirst for knowledge and wisdom, but often lack the resources to quench their thirst.

We are a business-themed public high school located in the heart of Queens, NY, the most culturally and ethnically diverse neighborhood in the world.

The children who enter my classroom come from all over NYC. As such, they carry with them a wealth of knowledge that contributes to a dynamic classroom. However, many of my students also come from economically disadvantaged homes. Therefore, many times, resources, basic supplies and equipment for extracurricular activities and team sports are scarce.

My Project

My students, who are all seniors, will use their new laptop computers to create their digital senior exit portfolios. My children, all 160 of them, will create a living document that exemplifies their best work. The portfolio is composed of works from all content areas, as well as personal interests, that have been compiled over the course of the past four years. At our school, the portfolio is an innovative, alternative assessment.

By supporting this project, you will not only support the class of 2020, but future graduating classes, as well.

The senior exit portfolio is completed and presented by every graduation candidate, prior to the commencement exercises. Your contribution will help an entire generation of up and coming, college bound, young professionals.
