Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have excellent students; they are original, concerned and full of dreams! They absolutely love hands-on, active, captivating activities and challenges that allow them to create their own projects! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

Most of the students in my classroom come in saying they could not complete practice assignments at home because they do not have the resources, and I know it is true!

Our school is nestled in North Miami, in a Haitian community. The majority of my students are immigrants, and a common theme within the community has been the need to survive in a hostile environment where our families often struggle to find employment and opportunity.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best can vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure each student's needs are met.

My Project

Technology is everywhere, entwined in almost every part of our culture. It affects how we live, work, play, and, most importantly, learn.

With mobile and other wireless devices becoming an increasing requirement across every industry today, it only makes sense that our schools are also effectively deploying mobile technology in the classroom.

Please help give my students the ability to access technology. They deserve to be able to log into our school's educational programs.

While some students enjoy unlimited access to the internet and other digital technology, there are other students, just as capable and full of potential, who struggle to learn even the basics of computer use due to a lack of access.

As a teacher, it is very difficult to know that many of the digital learning problems are tied back to lacking infrastructure, budget, or access at home. This is not something teachers can solve on their own.
