Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first-grade class consists of second language learners. I teach at a Title I school where students receive free lunch. About 80% of our students come from economically disadvantage homes. They are always energetic, motivated, and enthusiastic to learn new skills. They are learning to read, write, count, and have a passion to gain knowledge. My students come online ready and eager to learn new concepts and always excited to try their best. They are a community of students who encourage each other daily.

My Project

This project will make a difference by enhancing the students' learning environment through distance learning. A laptop will allow me to connect my students and give them access to our curriculum through different learning modalities. Each child learns at a different pace. A laptop will provide students with learning mathematic and reading, fluency, and phonics games appropriate for their learning abilities. Also, with the Internet, students will be able to access learning sites that would assist auditory and visual learners. With distance learning, the laptop can be connected to the projector and allow us to take virtual field trips. This is especially important since libraries, museums, and amusement parks are closed due to COVID-19, students can virtually continue to visit these learning sites.
