Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class consists of 21 wonderful and curious students who are learning to read and use technology. Due to the pandemic, this is the first year my students have been in a consistent classroom since 2020. My students have so much potential and are missing some key resources. They work super hard and they are eager and excited to learn. We are a Title I school and all of our students receive free meals throughout the day.

My Project

This project consists of four lap desks so my students can enjoy them on the rug or the tiled floor. They can also use them during small group instruction on the carpet in the library. My students can work on any assignment they choose on this lap desk because it is big enough for any of their books. Additionally, these lap desks fit their chromebooks as well. I have a couple of these already and my students love them! They are eager to take their turn to use them. Having an additional four lap desks will allow the student rotation of use to go by faster.

Students love when they have a choice of seat in the classroom and some students tend to be more motivated when they sit on the rug.

This lap desk gives students a space to work when they are on the rug.
