My Students

Imagine if you were not able to communicate with others in a way where you could be understood. Many of my students enter kindergarten with limited language skills that must be nurtured and specifically taught.

My students are a group of 27 boys and girls from very mixed backgrounds.

More than half are from low-socioeconomic families who want the best for their children. Our school is a Title I community school, of approximately 650 students. My students are excited about learning and earning "BRAIN WRINKLES" each and every day. They are full of energy and enthusiasm and all possess a really inquisitive nature. They are also a very caring group of children who are compassionate and giving to one another.

My Project

My students need nine games and activities that will cultivate their language skills and help them achieve effective communication. I will be able to meet the common core language standards by teaching with these materials. Many of the games will be used in small group instruction and during cooperative group exercises. These materials will promote oral language development, as well as written expression.

Donating to this project will make a difference in my classroom instruction and in the language development of my students.

The impact on my students is great because they will become effective communication specialists. This impact will permeate through my school and into the home because the students will be able to speak and write effectively with both peers and adults.
