My Project

Language is the curriculum in the toddler classroom. Everything we do has an important component for language development. Maria Montessori observed children from birth to six years of age being in their most sensitive period for language development.

Our goal in the toddler environment is to provide materials and opportunities rich in language.

Small model objects, puzzles, and laminated cards support learning the nomenclature and classifications which are foundational to academic growth. Materials for symbolic play support social interactions and communication in daily life experiences.

Art is another form of expression and supports the child's motor development which is later needed for writing and more advanced language materials.

Children benefit from age appropriate books with beautiful stories, pictures, and concepts while interacting with the material.
